So many people have the "well the government is paying for it, so who cares?" attitude and that's part of the reason that everything is in such a mess.

Confession: my kids and I are currently on food stamps. I hate it, but it is what it is until we get back on our feet. As soon as we started to get income (survivors benefits from my ex-husband's death) I reported it. I mean, as soon as I found out that we were getting them. It's a huge increase in our income. I had people tell me that I shouldn't have reported it, and I said that there was no way that I was NOT going to report it, because (1) it is the right thing to do (2) we would get caught if we didn't (3) maybe someone else who needs the food stamps more will now be able to get them. Doing the right thing is important, regardless of who is looking - and yeah, it resulted in a huge cut to the food stamps, but that's ok.

On the other hand, because my ex-husband's family is a bunch of vindictive power-hungry morons who refuse to allow me to even SEE a copy of the trust fund that was supposedly set up for our son, our food stamps are getting cut off because I can't prove that I don't have access to any money that may or may not be in the fund. They need to learn the whole Doing The Right Thing concept.Non-Stop Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11019977789459727121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7455556125864384726.post-83682147411650813392011-05-28T10:04:26.146-04:002011-05-28T10:04:26.146-04:00Our GI put Kaylee on Pediasure enteral formula, bu...Our GI put Kaylee on Pediasure enteral formula, but I'd love to know more about both Elecare and Vital Jr...what is the difference between them? And Kristen, you are doing the right thing-- odds are that the insurance company would catch their error eventually when they did their inventory checks/accounting, and you would have to return it anyway. That happened to us when my disability insurance company accidentally sent me a check for over $40,000 (instead of the $3000 I was expecting). As tempting as it was to want to cash it, we knew they'd come after us for the money. Turns out that they noticed it right away and called us for it, but it was already in the mail back to them by that point.Kisses4Kayleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02269588619726459188noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7455556125864384726.post-29201659972666028012011-05-28T08:50:07.005-04:002011-05-28T08:50:07.005-04:00Good for you!! Frank's nutritionist had him using that very briefly, then switched us to Vital Jr. Equally as expensive, and our insurance isn't covering it... however, it's doing great things for Frank. We really noticed a jump in weight gain and cognitive awareness as soon as we made the switch. Just thought I'd throw that out there, because I'd love to hear what other people are using. Do you think the Elecare is working well for him?Heatherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08949225344492130328noreply@blogger.com
