Letter to Andrew

Dear Andrew,
My light. My smile.  My 100% child.  Did you know that is what we used to call you? Our 100% child – because you were either 100% happy or 100% angry… no in between.  You are me.  You are daddy.  You are you.  You are 2 ½ years of amazement and I love you beyond words.  You are this amazing combination of the best things in all of us.

You are mine.  You are a talker.  You are independent.  You want to do things yourself.  You hold the phone up to your ear and pretend to talk.  You are love beyond words.

You are Daddy’s.  You are athletic.  You are so smart… You can figure things out on a dime.  You are not sneaky…. When we tell you no and you want to do it – you just do.  You love the remote.  You want to do things your own way.  You are love beyond words.

Did you know that you sit exactly like your Pappy M sits? Or that you have this ability to want to fix things; tear them apart and put them together that could have only been inherited from your Pappy S?  You love music and you know the words to almost every song – I love that.  When you giggle it is like listening to an entire chorus of Pillsbury Dough Boys.  It is so infectious; I have no idea how anyone would not laugh along.  When you are tired you saw sweet things like, “Mommy, you need me.” Or “Mommy, I need you take care of me.” I wish these moments would stay forever. 

You are such a goofball. I love Saturday mornings!

You have all these hilarious things going on right now.  You love Tigger.  You love your teddy. You sleep with your little teddy and yellow blanky every night.  You are a climber.  You are the one that we know to worry about when it is too quiet.  You crack us up all the time because you are always skirting on the edge of trouble.  I will walk in the room, you are doing something you shouldn’t be doing, and you grab your rear end while you run away.  How could I punish you when you are so cute? Today I put you in the corner, and you tried to stand next to the toy box and call that a corner.  You love to swim.  You love to play outside.  You love your sister.  You love your little buddy. You are amazing.
 Dress up also includes hats.

I don’t want to forget.  These special moments “when you are two.”  I don’t want you to think I didn’t notice.  I don’t want your teriffic and terrible twos to be clouded over by other things.

I notice.  I notice you.  I notice everything you do.  And I love it.  ALL of it.
