The StreX Factor

Fact: People handle stress differently.
Fact: I eat my stress.
Fact: This irritates me because I wish I was a supermodel.
Fact: My mother and her mother .... (get the picture?) also eat/ate their stress.
Fact: My husband does not eat his stress
Fact: In the old days - my husband exercised his stress.... when there was time for exercise.
Fact: My husband puts his family before everything else... including the exercising.
Fact: Our life is stressful.  This eatingALEXANDER'S EATING issue is a big stressor. 

The minute you think you have one thing solved, something else pops up. You finally get Alexander to eat, but then he stops pooping. You get him to poop, but his stomach hurts. His stomach can't handle what he should be taking - you give him meds to fix that, and he stops pooping again. You fluctuate between pooping too much and constipation. (I know... TMI ... but it is baby poop) you fluctuate between oral and g-tube. And added to the mix is Alexander's screams when his stomach is full but you know he needs more for nutrition.
Oh - and when you have that figured out - he has a big old seizure that lands you in the hospital. grrrrrrr. I buy plenty of Ice Cream and some days have 3 deserts.  I listen to rap music with my windows down. I pray and listen to Christian music - and recite bible verses. I blog. I post funny stories on face book so I can remember the funny times. I take pictures. I take Saturday afternoon naps... religiously. I plan, contemplate, re-plan, re-contemplate, etc. what Alexander should be doing to achieve my goals for him.

Fact: I put my family at the top of my list... but sometimes I need "A little something for me."



Fact: I worry about my husband. Wouldn't you? Who does not wish they could fix the hurt / stress / frustration of their partner? Who would not love to do this thing for them? I know Ray wishes he could take my stress from me..... but he can't.  I wish I could take the stress from him - but I can't.  I think I will suggest he take up listening to rap music. :)

I feel your pain...in more ways than one. I have been faithfully contributing to both the local gym AND Weight Watchers 'cause' but have not stepped a foot into either place for almost a year now. I have not quit, though, because I keep promising myself that I will get back to doing something good for myself...as soon as things with Kaylee start to slow down and/or improve. One day it will happen....til then, I am telling myself that I deserve to do whatever it is that keeps me sane and happy...and, albeit, a little heavier than I would like. Okay...a LOT heavier than I would like. My attitude if that life is short...so sometimes you just have to eat cake.

As for taking away the stress of others...when you figure out how to do that, please let me know. Til then-- if rap is the answer, I say roll down the windows and blast it loud! xo

I relate so much to this post. I know that you are living through a very tough period with Alexander. We have been there. Denise turned 2 in December and I have to say that the last couple months the stress has loosened the grip around my neck a bit. It is maybe because she is outgrowing her toughest months, I don't know. I wish a more relaxed times come soon for you too.
Another thing I wanted to share is the fact that I started a hot yoga class in January and it feels great. I think I can now feel how I'm sweating out the stress and that was the whole point in it. It feels like a life saving activity. If you can squeeze something like that in your schedule I highly recommend it...
