Babysitting Tips

Now that the summer has arrived, we will be headed out more.  Raymond and I are going to get out! Smell the roses! Go out to dinner.  And need some babysitters.  So if you fancy yourself courageous, sign right up... But here are some things you should know first.

1.  Never come alone.   They. Will. Make. You. Cry.
2.  They sense weakness. Be brave ~ even when you are unsure.
3.  Always keep a cell phone handy.  You never know when one of them will lock you out of the house or in a room.
4.  If Alexander grunts 3 times in a row, run away.  Get your co-babysitter to tend to him and look busy. Trust me, you don't want to be the one who has to deal with what he has done in his pants.
5.  Speaking of pants... no one can seem to keep theirs on at our house... embrace the "nakedness" of it all and pray no one poops.
6.  If the twins are quiet for more than 2 minutes... be very very afraid.
7.  When you ask the twins what they are doing and they both start talking really fast at the exact same time, be very very afraid.
8.  Hysterical laughing usually turns to hysterical crying.  It is ok.... it happens all the time.
9.  If Alexander starts screaming uncontrollably, please refer to # 4.
10. If all else fails - do what all great sitters do - give them milk, a snack, and some TV.

My rules when I baby-sat:
1. No bleeding because I don't want to wrestle multiple children into car seats and drive a minivan without killing us all.
2. No crying

We go over the rules and then we scream like lunatics and run around like crazy people for one minute. Gets the extra "Mom and Dad are GONE!" energy out and makes for an easier evening.

ROFL!!!! I very rarely get a sitter, because that would mean that I actually had a life. But on the rare occasions that I do, I run out the door and tell them that as long as there's no bloodshed and the house is still standing when I get back, it's all good.

I have trouble dealing with my herd. I don't expect anyone else to do it either. ;)

Hillary... bring your kids and stay with us. We would LOVE to have some company.
