Friday’s Confession Booth–Everything but the Kitchen Sink

Today I have to confess that I have a go-go-gadget purse.  You know the car commercials where a Toyota Prius pulls up and 20 people magically hop out? Yeah – that is my purse.  Actually, it is so bad that I’ve stopped carrying it places.  In fact – earlier this week, I posed the question on Facebook … “should I buy a new purse just so I don’t have to clean out my current one?” 
I know … You are thinking – how bad could it be?

So I emptied the contents …. Here is everything on one pile.  There is the distinct chance a small baby is hidden under there.

Funny Story. My camera case is in there – and I truly thought my camera would also be there… but alas – All these pictures were taken with my cell phone because… I couldn’t find my camera.  (I hang my head in shame.)

So I started to separate.  Really to find the baby who might be lost in the rubble… but then to put some organization to my things.  The “normal” pile – wallet, sunglasses, etc.  The “I’m a woman” pile (which I must grab one every single month for the just in case.) The “trash” pile.  The “I’m a mom” pile.  The “I’m Alexander’s mom” pile.  And … still – it looks like hours of sorting!

My toes have no polish on them, but if I needed some… apparently I have some in my purse.  My glasses are missing… my glasses case is not.  I chew on sugar free candy when I’m stressed…. been a lot of stress lately. And I had to start an “electronics” pile and a “food” pile.

Finally… it is all sorted. Everything from my purse has found a place on the blanket.  Now, time to confess exactly what is in there.

I hoard the most ridiculous things.  There is a Krispy Kreme hat from Myrtle beach with bible verses on it.  Cards with blog ideas written on the back.  if you need a clothes pin – I’m your girl.  Coupons. Piles and piles of coupons. Plus… receipts.  The bane of my existence.

Need some Valium? I mean… it has to be administered rectally… so – you might want to hold off until you really need it.  How about some fiber in your diet? Or mayonnaise? (secret… I hate Miracle Whip… so I carry my own stash of mayo.) Flash drive that is not mine. Cell phone that is not mine. Cell phone cover that broke after 2 days of use. (I have no idea why I’m still carrying that around.) 1 “AA” Battery. Again… for what? I have no clue!  I pod, chap stick that I never use, and a Sudoku book just- in-case I’m ever bored.

Don’t forget toddler underwear – for emergencies.  A PILE of Pennies… A bouncy ball, my camera case – no camera – but the case. *sigh*

Then there is the pile of toys for when we are out anywhere.  The pile of credit cards / insurance cards, etc.  The socks? The pile of pens.
It is sort of unbelievable.  As a mom – our purses grow to hold everything.  I mean… on demand, I must have a toy ready, underwear ready, a trashcan ready…. everything ready.

That’s my confession.  I think between the fiber bars, weight watcher’s gummy bears, and sugar free candy – we could survive a catastrophe for a few days.
